Reading about the German culture is always so interesting because I can always compare it to the United States and there are honestly so many differences I wouldn't know how to act in Germany. I thought that the privacy article was very interesting in that they're not really welcoming you with open arms and I think that it would be incredibly intimidating to have to go to something like office hours there because it's honestly so intimidating to go see your professor already anyways. However, I think it teaches a good personality skill of being assertive and confident in your actions.

Reading about German newspapers was kind of shocking because I feel like the standards or the level of censorship is so much higher here when it comes to bashing of political figures. I don't see this as a negative thing but rather that people are more open to share their opinions and that the citizens are more informed of occurring events. I do think that what the UK did to Germany by publishing those photos of Angela Merkel was appropriate though because, like they said in the article, there are certain standards and etiquette that should be maintained. Posting inappropriate pictures of someone like Angela Merkel is crossing the line and the UK should have had more sense than to do that. Regarding the last couple sentences of this article, yes England does not even come up to half of Germany's level in soccer right now. Their golden age failed to impress at the 2010 World Cup we all know.

Lastly, the trash can thing is actually quite awesome. Not only is it smart and easier to be eco-friendly and recycle, it will save the people who divide up the different types of recycling some time. I think that Americans should consider doing this. Even though there will be more initial costs, I think we can save a lot of money through recycling not to mention we would be saving the energy and resources that we all waste so much.
