Kapitel Vier

For this blog activity my roomate and I attempted to have a completely German conversation while grocery shopping. This was an incredibly difficult task as neither of us had our German dictionaries on us to look up all of the different food items. We basically just stuck to the easy ones, hanchen, fleisch, brot, joghurt, käse, bier, salate und gemüse. The activity ended once we got away from the easy objects like apfel, banane, eis, kuchen, karrotte und traube, and got to the ones we did not know like pancakes, cookies and pop-tarts. For the words we did not know we tried to describe the food and have the other person guess it. Whoever got it wrong, or did a bad job of describing had to go walk down the aisle and get the food. This made grocery shopping much more enjoyable. I would recommend trying it with a friend, you would be surprised at the number of items that you have no idea what they are called.
