These three articles for Kapitel 2 were very interesting to read. Although the complaining and staring people down aren’t the best of traits, it’s nice to have some insight to what the German culture is like. Americans may think that the Germans blunt speak may be rude or impolite, but if you think about it from the German perspective, they probably see it differently than we do. If you were to ask them a question, they would give you the honest answer, whether it’s brutal or not. Although this is different from the American culture, where we are brought up to give indirect answers or tell white lies if the truth will hurt or seem abrupt to others, the German people are just doing what is asked of them; to answer directly and to tell the truth. When looking at it from this aspect, the harshness of the German culture is really not as bad as it seems.
